General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Job description
Subject :
Work on the energy transition using the latest numerical techniques involving physical simulation, AI and optimisation applied to fuel cells
Job description :
Work on the energy transition using the latest numerical techniques. The CEA-Liten is the ideal place for a postdoctoral position: a thousand people are developing innovative solutions with our industrial partners in one of the best French and European innovation ecosystems.
Make your research contribute to technologies with a positive impact on both industry and society. Discover jobs with meaning:
· Promoting the emergence of low-carbon energy and reducing resource consumption
· Guaranteeing Europe's technological and industrial sovereignty and strategic autonomy.
Joining one of our laboratories offers the opportunity to become part of a close-knit group, working alongside and receiving guidance from recognised experts in their fields. It provides a chance to develop your skills in physics, machine learning and simulation in the energy sector.
The large-scale deployment of fuel cells depends on increasing their performance and durability. Here we address these two aspects via the design of the bipolar plates in the fuel cell core.
The envisaged method combines a multi-physics performance model, a model reduction approach via neural networks or other means, and topological optimisation. You will have ample freedom of research to develop this approach.
This method will contribute to the design of bipolar plates, by determining a specific design for a given application. It can be applied to fuel cells for any type of application, whether stationary or mobile, as well as to other technologies such as electrolysers of all kind. It is also a natural complement to the technology of printed bipolar plates, a promising technology in development here at Liten that allow a much freer choice of design and an ideal candidate for the realization of a demonstrator.
