General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Description de l'unité
Within the Silicon Component Division, the LGECA laboratory gathers expertise in analogue and mixed-signal design and develops innovative solutions for miniaturising sensor systems, integrating energy and analogue computing. At the interface between the laboratories developing new silicon devices and a design platform with more than 200 integrated circuit designers, the LGECA benefits from two ecosystems that enrich and guarantee a great vitality of research. It has a sustained publication activity, while guaranteeing the highest level of industrial research, as evidenced by press releases and licences from our industrial partners. It also welcomes Master's students, doctoral students and post-doctoral students, and offers research training by supervising students and supervising theses.

Job title
Internship: Ferroelectric FET-based Circuit Design for Artificial Intelligence
Subject
Dive into the world of Ferroelectric FET-based Circuit Design for Artificial Intelligence. This internship is an opportunity to take part in a cutting-edge project, with the possibility of going on to complete a thesis. If you're curious, creative and ready to take on a challenge, this is the internship for you!
With the rise of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, the massive flow of data is driving the need to create more energy-efficient computing systems. In this context, the paradigm of in/near-memory computing (I/NMC), which enables calculations to be carried out directly in - or close to - memories, is proving particularly promising. As AI requires large quantities of data, new low-power memory devices are becoming necessary. FeFET memory, with 3D integration capability, is emerging as a very promising candidate for meeting these needs.

Job description
Join the CEA-LETI for an exciting technological adventure!
This internship will enable you to cover a wide range of knowledge, covering microelectronic processes, analogue integrated design and 3D integration technologies, without losing sight of the needs specific to AI algorithms. Working with multidisciplinary teams to gain a detailed understanding of the memory device and the measurements already carried out, you will be integrated into an integrated design laboratory comprising 2/3 permanent researchers and 1/3 students, with fields of research covering a broad spectrum of applications.
Tasks of the internship :
- Study and analysis
- Analyse the 3D memory structure ** being studied in the laboratory.
- Carry out a review of the state of the art in FeFET-based memory calculations for AI.
- Architecture and design:
- Study a memory-based computing circuit architecture FeFET .
- Design the first proposed computational primitives with a view to manufacturing a 3D integrated circuit.
- Collaborate with the characterisation and modelling teams in order to integrate the physical characterisations of the first components FeFET created in the laboratory into your designs and simulations.
