General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Job description
A collaboration of several hundred researchers is currently involved in the definition and development of a new electron-ion collider (EIC) at Brookhaven Laboratory in the USA. The ePIC (electron-Proton/ion Collider) experiment, currently under construction, will be one of the world's most advanced particle detectors, designed to study the structure of matter with unparalleled precision.
In this context, the laboratory is looking for a digital microelectronics design engineer.
As part of the STREAM laboratory team in charge of electronics and microelectronics, your mission will be to participate in the detailed specification and design of the digital ASIC functional blocks for the ePIC experiment, to be integrated into a 32-channel chip using 65 nm CMOS technology.
After participating in the definition of the circuit's test board, you will take part in the characterization of the ASIC and be in charge of the design of the second circuit which, in addition to doubling the number of channels, will integrate any new functions enabling the circuit's greater versatility.
In collaboration with the digital and analog design team, you will also be responsible for :
- developing your digital blocks in verilog/VHDL/systemVerilog.
- validating your design by simulation/verification using Cadence/Xcellium or Siemens/Questa
Let's talk about us!
Joining the CEA means joining a public research organization whose mission is to give governments, companies and local authorities the means to meet the major challenges of our time: energy transition, climate change, the energies of tomorrow, the medicine of the future, digital technologies and defense.
Joining the CEA means becoming part of a research, development and innovation environment with a unique culture, heritage and facilities. What's more, we rank first among French research organizations in terms of the number of patents filed!
Joining the CEA also means joining a company that cares about reconciling personal and professional life (company agreement on quality of life at work, the possibility of teleworking up to 3 days a week, profit-sharing, numerous sports and cultural associations thanks to our works council, CEA bus routes available to employees).
.
Applicant Profile
You have a PhD or engineering degree in (micro) digital electronics, and preferably initial experience in integrated circuit design.
Knowledge of general electronics and experience in the design or implementation of on-chip DSP digital processing would be appreciated.
Able to work in a team, but also independently. You will be working as part of an international team, and will be able to communicate in English.
“In line with CEA's commitment to the integration of disabled people, this job is open to all. CEA offers accommodations and/or organizational possibilities for the inclusion of disabled workers.”
