Job description
Fuel cells are a key technology for clean and sustainable energy systems, particularly in hybrid configurations for transport and stationary applications. However, their durability under real-world conditions remains a critical challenge. This project aims to address these challenges by exploring advanced control strategies that leverage state-of-the-art prognostic algorithms for fuel cell health assessment.
This postdoc offer focalizes on Advanced Control and Optimization, specifically the design of Fault-Tolerant Control (FTC).
Building on prior work in machine learning-based prognostics for fuel cell health, the focus of this project is to develop methods to utilize this prognostic information to optimize the operation of the fuel cell system. Specifically, the postdoc will:
• Design fault-tolerant control (FTC) strategies to mitigate degradation and improve system resilience.
• Use existing state observers for fuel cell faulty scenarios using physical models, machine learning,
What you will do:
For this position you will:
· Handle Fuel Cell Models and fault detection Algorithms
· Develop FTC algorithms to optimize the performance of degraded fuel cells.
· Implement testing and validation by using a real-time HIL test-bench.
· Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate models, algorithms, and hardware.
· Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
Applicant Profile
What you bring to the table:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher with the following qualifications:
· Strong knowledge in electrical hybrid systems, with a particular focus on fuel cell technologies, their operation, and degradation mechanisms.
· Expertise in fault-tolerant control (FTC) and advanced control strategies.
· Proficiency in machine learning methods for predictive maintenance and system modeling.
· Proficient in Python and MATLAB/Simulink, with experience in modeling and real-time control.
· Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and rapid control prototyping environments.
What you can expect:
In the heart of the Alps, an exceptional and internationally recognised scientific ecosystem, in a city committed to the environmental transition "Grenoble European Green Capital 2022",
A balance between private and professional life (50 days off/year), an active Works Council for leisure and extra-professional activities.
Industrial-grade facilities for research
Participation to scientific conferences.
