General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Postdoc
Job title
Postdoc - 24 months- MOF passivation of tandem silicon/perovskite photovoltaic devices
Subject
In order to improve stability of devices in operation, we plan to integrate Metal Organic Frameworks from different sources into Si/PVK tandems solar cells, to characterize materials modifications with different techniques (XRD, SEM, Photoluminescence, etc…) and to make aging studies of full devices following last recommended standards ISOS-L2 (light plus temperature) and ISOS-LC (light cycling).
Contract duration (months)
24 months
Job description
Solar cell efficiencies of tandem devices using these materials reached 34.6%[1], making this the fastest-advancing solar technology to date. From its side, CEA achieved 30.8%[2] efficiency with relatively large device (9 cm2). Nevertheless, stability challenges appear as the most important bottlenecks regarding the emergence of this technology on the market.
The LCT lab is leading the TACOS project which involves CEA/LITEN/LCT and LVME laboratories and is dedicated to the improvement of the intrinsic stability issues. In order to inhibit the defects and the related degradation mechanisms, numerous passivation approaches are used. Among them, the use of Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) is little explored and promises specific advantages due to their unique properties.
The aim of TACOS is to integrate MOFs from LVME and other sources into the LCT's Si/PVK tandems, to study materials (XRD, SEM, Photoluminescence, etc…) and to make aging studies of full devices following last recommended standards ISOS-L2 (light plus temperature) and ISOS-LC (light cycling).
