General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Division description
Part of CEA, the largest French research and technology organization CEA-Liten is a major European research institute and a leader in the development of the sustainable energy technologies of the coming years. The institute is spearheading the EU's efforts to limit dependency on fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in three key areas: renewable energy, energy efficiency/storage and development of materials. The institute is the only European research center with a global approach from materials development to pre-industrialization process.
Description de l'unité
As part of the PV Modules and Systems Department, the Module Processes laboratory (LPM) develops innovative technical building bricks for PV module design, in particular for Heterojunction and then Tandem cells.
Based on its extensive expertise in materials, processes and equipment, LPM offers and designs integrated PV module concepts as part of an eco-design and circular economy approach.

Job description
Are you enthusiastic about technological innovation and willing to contribute to the energy transition objectives to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050? Do you also care about strengthening Europe's energy sovereignty? Photovoltaic (PV) technology will be a major pillar of the future carbon-free energy system. Join us and take part in developing high-efficiency, stable and long-lasting photovoltaic modules, by actively collaborating in European industrial projects. Let's work together towards large-scale, sustainable PV solution deployment !
You will report to the Head of the Modules Process Laboratory (LPM) and be part of the Photovoltaic Modules and Systems Department (SMSP) team.
In close collaboration with CEA LITEN's PV cell and module technical experts, you will develop and qualify new cell interconnection processes for the next generation of PV modules. You aim to improve module performance and reliability over time, while minimizing manufacturing costs and the use of critical materials.
This mission takes place within the laboratory's collaborative projects and requires close interaction with international industrial partners.
You will be responsible for :
- Development, optimization and reliability of cell interconnection processes for new-generation PV modules by ECA or welding, including :
- Interconnection equipment upgrades : installation and qualification
- Definition and execution of experimental studies
- Characterization of materials and related processes (including tensile and adhesion tests, optical measurements, DSC, DMA, CTE)
- Advanced characterization of modules (optoelectronic tests : flash tests, spectral response, electroluminescence)
- Production of innovative PV modules and qualification through ageing tests to support the development of more mature technologies up to the production of the first series
- Contribution to technology transfer
- Planning and coordination of the project activities to achieve the initial technical objectives
- Preparation of reports and technical deliverables for internal and external communication
- Elaboration of scientific knowledge and know-how in interconnection of PV cells, including technologic survey and results promotion (patents, publications in scientific journals, participation in conferences,…)
