General information
Organisation
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas :
• defence and security,
• nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
• technological research for industry,
• fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.
Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.
The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Job description
DTNM is recruiting a post-doc for its L3M laboratory for a period of 18 months.
Does diving into groundbreaking new technologies for energy sound like an exciting opportunity for the next two years?
Are you ready to take on the challenge? By immersing yourself in a dynamic, multidisciplinary project, you'll have the chance to design and simulate an innovative heat exchanger, crafted through cutting-edge additive manufacturing. With your passion for modeling and simulating physical phenomena and your expertise in navigating complex digital environments, you'll contribute your skills and knowledge to tackle the energy challenges of the future. Get ready to make a difference!
Job description :
Nuclear fusion through magnetic confinement is an innovative pathway to providing a solution for non-fossil energy production. The extreme operating conditions at the core of the plasma impose significant thermal stresses on surrounding materials. To address these challenges, the development of more efficient solutions now relies on advanced heat exchanger technologies, made possible through additive manufacturing. You will work on the thermo-hydraulic modeling and optimization of a new heat exchanger known as the Plasma Facing Component (PFC). To achieve this, you will adapt and utilize a digital workflow for the design, simulation, and validation of this exchanger, produced in metal by an Additive Manufacturing Process called L-PBF (Laser Powder Bed Fusion). You will also contribute to experimental validation on a test bench that simulates the conditions of magnetic confinement nuclear fusion
Applicant Profile
What you bring to the table :
· You have a PhD in thermohydraulics, fluid mechanics, thermal energy modelling
· Key technical skills: expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamic is mandatory with knowledge on modelling software as Ansys Fluent (expected) or equivalent, strong knowledge on heat transfert and fluid mechanics (single phase flows), skills in Python Programming
· Soft skills: team coworking, autonomy, curiosity, rigor, oral communication, respect
